| Sinan, located at the southwestern of Korean peninsular only made up of the many beautiful islands which embroider the archipelago, is neighboring 5 cities and counties. Sinan consists of 1,004 small and large islets; of these, 72 are inhabited and 932 are uninhabited. Sinan takes up 5.4% of the total land surface area of the South Jeolla Province with an area of 654.3§´, which is consisting of a 327.96§´ (50.1%) forestland, 213.33§´ (32.6%) of farmland, and 113.04 §´ (17.3%) of other land types. As of December, 2006, it has the population of 46,714 with 21,297 households and is divided into 1 town and 13 subcounties. |

Since Sinan is surrounded by sea, it has big extremes of temperature and relatively more topographical rainfall. The year average temperature of Sinan area is 13.5 ¨¬C. The average temperature is the highest in August, averaging 26.1 ¨¬C, and it is the lowest in January averaging 0.0 ¨¬C. The rainfall of Sinan is year average approximately 1,002.7mm.
Sinan is a paradise with the Natural Monument such as Hongdo, Heuksando, and Gageodo. These hold the seashore filled with sea cliffs with diverse shapes of rocks. It is said that people can hear the rooster crow from China, Imja Daekwang beach resort is famous for its old pine forest, and endless white sand beaches, Jeungdo Woojeon, Bikum WonPyoung, Docho Simok, Haeui Shindo, Amtae Choopo beaches all boast of their natural scenes and romantic places.
Historical relics of the Chinese Song dynasty, Yuan's celadon, and white porcelain which had attracted world's attention, the class of natural treasure have all been excavated hear Doduckdo, and Joongdo Myoun in Sinan County. Moreover, Sinan has fishing places which spread out near ocean and plentiful aquatic resources.
Also, it has become famous throughout the world, especially as the hometown of President Kim Dae-jung, Korea's first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000.
And it produces special products such as Skate, Woburn, Seabream, excellent taste and quality laver, white shrimp in Imjado.
